HINTS AND TIPS

Please note that all tips apply to Half-Life and therefore are not all applicable to the Team Fortress Classic "add-on".

  1. Always keep on the move. A stationary player is a dead player!

  2. Learn the levels you play inside out.

  3. Learn the locations of all the pick-ups

  4. Try to pick up health and armour as often as possible or try to conduct gun battles near to health.

  5. Play with volume turned up as you can hear someone approaching.

  6. HINT: Learn exactly what the laser sight on the rocket launcher is capable of in Multiplayer (Worth Knowing! but too good to tell!)

  7. Use the long jump (pick it up)

  8. Check what type of gravity is being used before joining a game.

  9. Check which type of game it is (TFC, Half-Life or Teamplay), also check you have the level the game is being played on!

  10. Learn to be able to jump up on things quickly! (This is essential for the advanced levels).

  11. Use the Laser to do Laser jumps by holding down the right mouse button, holding for power increase and then release. (Is there anywhere this allows you to reach?)

  12. Always remember to insult everyone you meet via the "y" button (or be nice to them if your feeling charitable), type your message and then press enter.

  13. Press "u" to talk only to those in your team (Teamplay and TFC only).

  14. Develop "routes" along which you pass all the goodies you can get your hands on. A good "route" is a death sentence for all you meet on it!

  15. If you are getting thrashed the chances are you need to practice a bit more. Create a LAN game (just puts you in by yourself unless you really are on a LAN) to practice levels alone...and for nothing!

  16. And finally, make sure you visit all the sites in my Links page!
